Here you will find an alphabetized list of Rap terms and words along with an explanation of each.
Rappers who have enjoyed a high level of success in recent years include 50 Cent, Eminem and Jay Z. Though highly dominated by males, the Rap world does have several successful female artists in Missy Elliott, Eve and Mary J Blige, though they do tend to have a more blended style of Rap and Hip Hop, rather than straight Rap, which tends to be extremely staccato.
So, in what direction will R&B head in the future? Rap and Hip Hop continue to be popular, with more and more females moving into that area. It is possible that along with this, the themes of R&B Rap will become slightly softer, though unlikely to return to their Soul roots.
It is also likely that solo artists will continue to flourish, with a move away from groups, and the tensions often associated with this, at least in the near future. The trend lately has seen far more solo artists than groups enter the scene, and the disbandment of popular group Destiny's Child so that the artists could pursue solo careers is a good indicator that this will be a growing trend.
R&B, and it's various styles, is not likely to be disappearing anytime soon. With such a long history, and strong fan base across all the styles, R&B will continue to be a popular music choice, and is likely to remain so for generation to come.
