Poetry: Remembering rape

'A few dangerous things'

Pain.
Her heart
Shards of glass
Slicing it open

Cuts.
Her feet
Looking past the
Obvious places

Tears.
Her eyes
Glistening and
Falling away from her

Shock.
Her back
Cruelly circulating
Down her spine

Fear.
Her mind
Truthfully inserting
What she has to lose

Anger.
Her fists
Clenching and holding
The invisible knife

Bruises.
Her stomach
Displays the place
A child once lived

Hurt.
Her legs
From being forced open
Too many times

Blood.
Her lips
Suddenly bruising
What used to be beauty

Hope.
Her ears
Knowing the sweet
Change in the wind

Love.
Her body
Which has been given
Slowly and painfully away

    I was arrogant
    I was unconscious
    I was asleep
    I

    A blank mind
    Erased by guilt and
    Erased by sin and
    Erased by hate

    Flash!
    A blink of a scene
A keg in the corner and
    A table outside

why did it happen to me

Since then I've had to adapt my actions
