Poetry: Being grumpy

THAT'S NOT HOW MY MOTHER DID IT!

"That's not how my mother made it"
I didn't look.
"She put in a lot more tomatoes"
O.K.! The woman could cook!
"She had a knack for sauces"
She always used a book!

"That's not how my mother did it"
I didn't look.
"She folded the towels very neatly"
I leave them on the hook.
"She had a knack for housework"
I held my breath and shook.

"That's not how my mother used to iron"
I didn't look.
"You never saw any wrinkles"
That did it, his goose was cooked!
I turned and threw the iron at him.
Too bad he didn't look!

    LIQUEFIED AND RECYCLED
