"Christmas Legacy" (based on a true story)
Beautifully adorned trees couldn't penetrate the cold reality of the season. Amy always looked forward to Christmas, her favorite holiday. She cherished childhood where she was met with an abundance of love from her family. To bring these memories to life in adulthood with a husband and children were all she ever wanted. No material possession could be as worthy.
Amy met Gary in college. She saw something very special in him on their first date. She couldn't quite explain, but knew he would make a profound difference in her life. And that he did. Two years later, with family and friends gathered, they vowed to love one another, in life and throughout eternity. A simple, yet exquisite diamond and a kiss sealed their love and a new path began.
Amy never thought her heart could be as full as the day she married Gary, but this feeling rekindled with the birth of her first child, Autumn. What a precious gift and Amy never took this gift for granted. She was a patient and loving mother.
Years brought forth three more beautiful children. After Amy's fourth child was born, her doctor ordered tests, fearing the worst. The results confirmed Amy had ovarian cancer. A life that had been so full, in a solitary moment, became terrifying. Gary was her strength. He stood beside her every step of the way. Her children never faltered in their hope. Amy and Gary had always instilled belief in their children, but in the silence of night, their own beliefs were weakening.
Amy was a fighter, always attempting to take away other's tears as they looked upon her frail body. No one was prepared for the sentence she received, just two months before Christmas. Her doctor gave her a month to live. Gary had never known such pain. How could he possibly go on without the love of his life? He didn't let his pain show. He had to be Amy's strength, as she had almost none of her own left.
Amy insisted on going home for her last days. Gary loved her enough to respect her wishes and he carried her body to the car from the hospital. For days, family and friends gathered. There was laughter and many tears. How could they let go of such a precious angel? The mere thought was unbearable.
It was mid November, but Gary wanted Amy to see "Christmas" one last time. He decorated the house brilliantly. The children were excited and the atmosphere wasn't that of sadness. This was Amy's favorite time of the year and Gary was determined to make it the best ever! Friends and
