I don't have any teenage girls running around my house as of yet. My daughter is only 8, but I would hope that as she gets to that teenage state of mind, I will be able to give her a gift that she will truly enjoy and perhaps cherish.
Anyone who has been around a teenage girl knows they change their minds like the winds change direction. What might have been "the coolest thing" last week might now be "so yesterday". So how do you keep up with the changing tides of teenagism? How do you find that perfect gift that will make them call all of their "BFF's" and tell them how your the coolest mom or dad on the planet?
First let me say that clothes are not always the best choice, unless it's something you know they really have been dying to have, such as a leather coat or an expensive purse. But, if you know what stores they shop on a regular basis, a gift card is a good idea. Someplace like Ambercrombie or Hot Topic are more frequented by teenagers than say JC Penney or Sears. Keep in mind, however, that these stores are not inexpensive. In order to get the squeals and thank yous, the gift card will probably have to be at least $100.
Digital Cameras are a good idea. Teenage girls love to record their fun times with their best friends, and a digital camera can help them to do that. There are many different kinds of cameras out there, and finding one that will suit their needs shouldn't be too hard of a task. Most come with a printer dock so that they can print the pictures up on their own too.
Music is always popular, but knowing what music they enjoy is necessary. If you're unsure, there are gift cards that allow for them to get a certain amount of tunes from Itunes available at various stores. WalMart carries them as a matter of fact.
Appearance is important to girls at this age, so a certificate for a day spa where she can be pampered all day is a great idea. Even better would to ensure that she can include one of her best friends to go along with her. She'll love it even more if she can share the day of pampering with a friend. Most day spas have services that include the usual massages and treatments, but they also include make-up specialists who will give a young girl a new look and nail salons where they can get their nails "blinged" up.
Hopefully if you were confused as to what to get for a teenage girl this year for Christmas, this has given you a few ideas. It's a fickle age, the teen years. Even more so when you're a girl. Make this Christmas memorable for both of you!
