Don't dismiss your negative emotions

Ahhh! When you look at your credit card bills you just want to scream. Your minimum payments don't seem to be so minimum in comparison to your paycheck and to add insult to injury your interest rates are being hiked up. You can't make all of your payments on time so now you have to add that awful $30.00 late charge onto that ever increasing payment. Every time you go to your mailbox your emotions run the gamut of fearful to anxious as you anticipate the bills you will have to face.

So what's the solution? In a post "Secret" society you might be tempted to think that maybe you should put a "happy face" on your problems. After all, you may have learned that your "negative" thoughts are responsible for your "negative" circumstances. You may even believe that in order to resolve your "negative" circumstance you should simply dismiss them along with those troublesome "negative" thoughts. While it is not recommended that you focus on undesirable, unwanted things, it is recommended that you remain aware of your feelings and emotions.

Awareness is one of the most powerful spiritual tools you have on your side. For one reason or another people become fearful of their thoughts and emotions when they learn that these things are significant in the shaping of life experiences. It's as if there mind turns against them and plays out all the possible unfortunate events in their heads. This need not be the case if you understand where the significance of your emotions lie.

Imagine if you will you are traveling somewhere by vehicle. Your destination is one that you have never visited before but nonetheless you are looking forward to your arrival. You decide that you will enlist the help for you newly installed GPS navigation system as you were told by fellow users of its reliability. On the way there however you are enticed to take a scenic route being advertised by the road sign and so you take an uncalculated turn. Eventually you become a little lost and are alerted by you GPS. Tell me, do you resolve the problem by dismissing the alerts of your ever reliable navigation system? Do you say that your lost situation is the result of the GPS or do you give appreciation for the on hand guidance available at the tip of your fingertips?

You emotions are not different from the navigation system you find so dependable. When you experience strong emotion it is alerting you to the current direction of your energy, focus, and attention relative to your desired destination.

Ignoring the feeling that wells up when you look at your outrageous credit card statement is as useless as ignoring your GPS alert when you find yourself lost. In a situation such as this your emotions should be heeded and you should consider devoting your attention to allowing solutions to your financial situation. After all, aren't you already painfully aware of the problem?
