Win at home. Hardly a secret to winning any league. So as we are at the start of December (2007), it has to be Barcelona who will win the league. Seven wins out of seven at home, which I realise does contrast dramatically with one win out of seven away from home. As the team gels though, the away wins will come and it is clear that the Champion's League progress also adds to confidence. The team has Messi, Henry, Ronaldinho, Eto'o, and Deco, with a solid defence. Notice that despite draws and the losses away from home, only 11 goals have been scored against Barcelona so far this season. The lowest of the Primera Liga.
Last season (2006-2007) was a tough one, with a draw on points at the very end giving the league to Real Madrid. Sevilla were strong last year, but they are down the bottom half of the league at the moment. Barcelona's games in December include Deportivo, Stuttgart, Valencia and Real Madrid. FCB beat Stuttgart 0-2 early in October, so should feel confident with a home game in the Champion's League in which they are already through to the next round. Deportivo, so strong for so many years, seem to have a crisis and to be doing badly this season, though Valencia, the only away game, will look to win.
The 23rd December will be big; Real Madrid in the Camp Nou. I would love to be there, but I think I will listen to the Catalan commentary on Radio Barca online.
