Copywriting tips for advertising

Your written words can be a powerful advertising tool. Good copyrighting gets the results you are looking for to increase your sales, expand your market, and create a returning customer base.

These copyrighting tips have been proven across time and markets to improve your advertising and to increase sales and name recognition. Use them and watch for results that will make a difference in your business:

1.) Open with a strong "hook" to get the buyer or client's attention. Write a strong opening sentence to propel the reader's interest through the details of your writing copy.

2.) Use expert quotes or testimonials from influential customers. Get permission to use direct quotes or an influential person's testimony about your product or service.

3.) Stay on-topic. Make your promotion satisfy a buyers needs or wants, but make sure your information is accurate. You can be genuinely persuasive without being deceptive or misleading.

4.) Use a newsy style and tone, correct grammar and concise, accurate sentence construction. Writing errors can damage your credibility even if you have the best product on the face of the earth.

5) Provide clear, easy-to-find contact information: contact persons, address, phone numbers, Fax numbers, emails, etc. Repeat information about how your potential customer can make that purchase.

6) Present your copy writing content in an attractive, easy-to-read font and type size. Break up the text into bullets or numbered lists for speed and ease of reading. Make effective of italics and bold fonts. Add pictures, illustrations, graphs, or diagrams only if they add to the promotion of your product or service.

7)Review your copy from time to time to ensure timeliness and to customize it for specific segments of your target audience.

Businesses and the consumer public receive many mailings so it is important to get your copy writing noticed, seen as relevant, and, ultimately, have your copy result in a sale.

You will find that if you employ these techniques in your copy writing, you will see a positive return on your efforts: increased sales, an expanded market, and a strong customer base.
