Interesting question...I think it can most easily be answered by drawing a parallel between abortion providers and the general category of "doctors". In both cases we are talking about health care providers whose services are often essential and are at times offered because they care(pro-choice activists and non-profit organizations like "Doctors without borders") while other times clearly for profit.
So do doctors do it for service or money? Well, do they get paid? Yes. do they get paid the bare minimum or do they generally charge exuberant amounts for services that the patient can't do without? I'd say it's more often the later(average salary for a physician is upwards of $150.000). While medicine is portrayed as a "noble" profession, and of course there are some people who do it because they genuinely want to help, the overwhelming majority does it because they can do the necessary studying and have the money to invest in a career that is sure to be in demand for as long as there are human beings on this planet and where they can charge whatever they want - the "customer" is generally not in a position to refuse.
By analogy - generally speaking, abortion providers are in it for the cash.
