Flirting tips for boomers: How to do what doesn't come naturally

The Art of Flirting

Psst! Hey, you! Baby Boomer! Are you too afraid to flirt? Are you too self-conscious to let go and let your wild side take over?

Well I have the secret that will unlock your inhibitions and give you the power to flirt your way into any open door. From walking into a club to random encounters in a grocery store, here are a few simple principles that may help you become a professional flirt.

Do you wanna know the biggest secret? Sure you do. Get over yourself! Now, don't get offended, I'm not trying to sound harsh. Guess what: Everybody suffers from it! Going into public, wondering, "What are they thinking about me?" "Who's looking at me?" "Do I look fat?" "Can anyone see that zit?"

And you know what? Nobody's looking! Ha! The same people that you're worried about looking at you are worried about you looking at them! Except for those who have learned to Focus On The Other Person, which is the next biggest secret. There's plenty of interesting traits in everybody, so why not pay attention to a few?

Stop worrying about what people are thinking of you and focus on looking for what catches your eye. I know it's easier said then done. Don't worry, though, the more you just practice looking for, thinking about, and commenting on the positive attributes of others, the more confident you will become within yourself. For you no longer promote negativity.

And while we're on the topic of self, why don't you take those insecurities and turn them into action? Worried about your weight? Join a local gym or get up 1/2 hour earlier to do a little morning jog. Need a higher self-esteem? Conduct esteemable acts! Practice doing a good deed for someone else and keeping it a secret, volunteer your time and efforts, hold the door open for the next person, and offer your seat to the elderly.

Practice affirming positive attributes about yourself...Even if you don't mean it. Here's how affirmations work: I say, therefore I am. Even deeper, as I acknowledge truth and affirm positivity, I circulate truth and positivity; and so those gifts find their way back to my soul. In turn, my inner light shines and I become a magnet to those around me. I begin to believe in all the good that I am.

Practice being an equal opportunity flirt. Just because you wouldn't kick your heals up for the guy in front of you at the check out line doesn't mean you can't engage in some harmless flirting. Besides, the more practice you get when you're not intimidated by beauty, the more prepared you'll
