CREATIVE
I have three sister in-laws that are teenage girls, and the youngest is twelve. Out of all four of them, only one is the creative one. She is the second oldest at sixteen, and creates paintings with acrylic. Her wardrobe reflects her creativity. I'm sure there are a ton of accessories and outfits you could get for a creative teen girl, but for gift ideas I focused on something they can use to actually create.
Your teenage girl can create anything from movies to pottery with the gifts available in today's marketplace. The good thing is, the price range varies so much on these kinds of gifts, and they are very thoughtful.
What does she like to create?
*MUSIC*
Currently (11/30/07) available at local department stores and sold-out on www.rockband.com is the Rock Band Special Edition Set made for X-box or Playstation, It includes a game, 58 tracks, a microphone, drum peripherals, and a guitar for $169.99. You do not have to purchase the entire set. They sell the instruments separately. This game teaches your teen to how to play and get the "look".
You could also purchase a real musical instrument for them from local music shops or www.musiciansfriend.com. *There are several books available for sale that give great tips on becoming a professional musician. On Amazon.com there's a book called "How to be a Working Musician".
*JEWELRY*
She can make beaded jewelry with Swarovski crystals and precious stones. At LindaRichmond.com you can purchase a variety of beads ranging from regular polished beads to fine crystal pendants. You can customize a kit, or purchase one that has already been put together. They offer instructional booklets for beginners and weaving projects for the advanced. Some of the fine handmade pieces that are crafted from these materials command a large sum at KitsJewelry.com. The bracelets alone go up to $300.
You can also get a nice beaded jewelry kit in the craft section of your local department store, Mart store, or craft & fabric store. They range from $8.99 for a small kit to $25.00 for an elaborate polished bead kit complete with everything to get going from the beads, of course, to the clasps.
*POTTERY*
I was impressed to see a complete pottery wheel set on sale at Wal-Mart for $19.97, no baking necessary. It came with the wheel to spin, two pounds of clay and everything you need to make a clay pot of any kind, also available on their web site. There is an all inclusive Pottery wheel kit at Target
