How do I tell if someone's a real friend? Well, the real question should be, what is a real friend. I have a friend that I would consider to be a real friend. We live hundreds of miles apart, and we do most of our talking on the phone, but it seems as if she's right here with me when we talk. We laugh together, and we cry together. We share our deepest secrets without fear. She has taken a lot of time walking me through my depression, and I've walked with her through some hard things. She has even given me a swift kick out of the mud when I needed it, and she knows when to give me the swift kick, or when to be gentile with me.

One thing that I can say that we do a lot of together, aside from talking, is praying, with and for each other. I think our prayers are one thing that bring us closer together as friends. Another thing that brings us closer together as friends is that we are honest, and truthful with each other, with love. We are able to be honest and truthful about things, even the hard things. We confess things to each other, without fear of losing each others love, and we love even if that confession hurts or disappoints us.

A real friend, my friend, is always there for me, and I will always be there for her. I know this because she has proven it to me, and I hope that over the past year I've been able to prove it to her. I thank God for my real, true, good, and best friend.
