Most people get at least one gift at Christmas that they don't want or cannot use, so it makes good sense to take it into the office and share it with your colleagues. After all Christmas is the season of goodwill, so why not share it around?
Most obvious gift to share is chocolate. Most of us get so much chocolate at Christmas, and some people are on diets or at least being careful with their weight, so why not take it into the office and share it around? Whether it's a big box of Cadbury's Roses, some Milk Tray, or something more exotic like Thorntons, chocolate will always find an appreciative home amongst your work colleagues.
Likewise, sweets and candies of any description will go down well. Bring in a box of Fry's Turkish Delight, or other delicacy. and see your colleagues' faces light up. Or how about sharing your mince pies or Christmas cake.
Sharing in the office at Christmas does not just mean bringing in something edible though. A few plants or fresh, cut flowers will cheer the place up, especially in the week after Christmas, when the decorations go down, and everything looks a little sad and dreary.
However, in my book, there is one thing you can share in your office at Christmas that costs nothing and yet brings more joy than anything, and that is to genuinely try and spread and share some goodwill amongst your colleagues. Every year at my office, we buy a few gifts and head off to the local Childrens' Hospice, where we distribute the presents to the kids. Many of them will not live to see another Christmas, but the joy on their faces at receiving extra "surprise" gifts is priceless. Many of us are obviously upset at the sight of these poor sick children, but when we get back to the office and have time to reflect, we realise how lucky we are to have safe and healthy families ourselves, and the fact that we have come together to share these thought and these moments, is the biggest gift that any group of colleagues can share.
Merry Christmas
