Best resorts for a holiday ski trip in Vermont

Huddled among the pines at the foot of Mt. Mansfield in Stowe, Vermont, lies one of New England's most prized resorts. Spread over 80 acres the Golden Eagle Resort offers getaway options for any budget. Economy accommodations are available starting at $99 per night, or more homelike accommodations at the "White House" featuring a living room with wood burning fireplace. For a more rustic atmosphere, the Golden Eagle offers an Adirondack-style cabin in the woods featuring local, handcrafted furniture.

Mt. Mansfield, Vermont's highest mountain, provides numerous beginner, intermediate and cross-country trails, plus several double-black diamond trails just minutes away from the Resort. Average annual snowfall totals 22 feet. The Golden Eagle offers a variety of ski packages including "Kids Ski and Stay for Free!" starting at $95 per night. Additional amenities include children's programs, skating, fitness center, sauna and indoor heated swimming pool.
The Golden Eagle offers two restaurants: the Colonial Cafe serving locally inspired breakfast fare, and the Partridge Inn Seafood Restaurant, specializing in fresh Cape Cod Seafood. Over fifty restaurants within minutes from the Resort are located throughout the greater Stowe Village area, as well, serving outstanding cuisine ranging from Italian to Austrian.
For excursions away from the resort guests can visit the Trapp Family Lodge to sample Austrian cuisine at the Austrian Tea Room or browse its charming gift shop. Or try Stowe Village to survey local merchandise like Vermont Cheddar and Maple Syrup at the Stowe Mercantile, or Cotswold Furniture for local handcrafted furniture. The Stowe area boasts of over thirty-five specialty shops, galleries, museums, tours and places of interest.
With so much to do a vacation to the Golden Eagle easily fulfills any vacationers wish list. And its unique blend of old world and country ambiance will afford pleasant memories for years to come.
