How to green clean your house

Oh, the joy of cleaning, what a feeling of having everything in your home not only sparkle but knowing the air you are inhaling is also sparkly clean thus, no irritation to your lungs and organs. I recall when I learnt how to clean an entire house, I was around 14 years old and my brother in law who I might add was one and only person who I knew could clean a home than anyone I know. Well I learnt from the best, he was so picky he would take a q-tip to get into tiny crevices behind the garbage bin, sink holes, stove, fridge, toilet, sink and even cleaning the aerator of the taps. Although he was so meticulous about cleaning, back in the 80's there were limited information about cleaning the home with organic, non-toxic cleaners. However even though there were limited information about this, I recall cleaning with vinegar and water, baking soda and using citrus fruits to clean the sink. This was the routine, every Saturday we did the big clean which I labeled "Extreme Cleaning." We would turn the entire house upside down in order to accomplish our prime directive of "cleaning." Our pots looked as shiny as they were when they were still in their boxes and after two or more years old.

Today, I follow the same routine which was reinforced in me by my brother in law and each Saturday I do the ultra cleaning. The only difference today, all of my cleaners down to my laundry detergent is organic, non-toxic cleaners. I do not use anything in my home which has any unnatural chemicals. Everything I use is from a natural source including my make up, soaps and cleansers. Many would say it's so expensive to buy organic for the home. I would say to them the difference is by far greater than the expenses because the air I breathe in my home is far superior to the air I would breathe in theirs.

There are many items which if researched properly you can find inexpensively I might also add that when using natural cleansers, you do not have to use as much as using regular cleansers. Organic cleansers are powerful cleaners when combined with other organic cleansers and using a small amount in the long run is very economical. In May of 2007 I purchased Organic cleansers for my new home, it is now November 30, 2007 and I have not had to replace any of the cleansers to date. My laundry detergent was depleted around August since I purchased it in May so that was the only item which needed replacing.

For me the personal choice to go green not only in how we clean our homes but also what
