How can we make our houses greener? It seems as though all we hear anymore is "green this and green that"! Maybe that is a result of all the "global warming" bellowing we hear. These advocates possibly feel that after the globe has warmed up enough, all that will be left is green grass. This beautiful world was green enough until we humans started trying to make it "greener"- our way. But to keep on the side of political correctness, I did a brain strain to come up with various solutions to help us on the road to a greener house.
My suggestions? Keep your refrigerator clean so green mold doesn't find a home on your rotting veggies! Have lots of green houseplants around to improve the air. Soak a cottonball in milk and wash the leaves for a nice, shiny green!
Be sure everyone brushes their teeth well or they will get a green line where tooth meets gum.
Use large, tough green trash bags so they don't rip and spill trash everywhere.
On St. Patrick's Day, add green food coloring to your corned beef and cabbage. Christmas? Ah, the best and definitely greenest time of year! Keep everything green- with splashes of red for that festive look. Keep the tree green, the wreathes, stockings and gift wrap. Butcher paper colored green by the younger set makes unique wrapping paper. If a tot throws up on it after eating too many green frosted cookies, let it dry slightly, wipe off, and spray with green spray paint. It leaves a lovely crackle effect.
Buy some lime green dishware with matching glasses. Buy your washable napkins in a nice, emerald green.
Most importantly, spend a weekend and paint the outside of your house green! It will look glorious in every season.
But above all else, how about trying some good old common sense? Your neighbors will be green with envy!
