Yes I do believe that giving music away is bad for the industry, because it conjures up questions like is down loading music ethical? Oh my god how could the answer to that question ever be yes? I really wish I could have been in on that debate, because anyone who would say yes to that question is a thief, and only thinks of himself. If it were your music would you want people stealing from you? Selfish ones only look for their own interest, and seldom have the ability to satisfy their sexual partners. Yes it is possible to download music without giving the artist what is rightfully his, so I feel that giving music away hurts the music business because of people who will use those who give their music away as an excuse to steal music from those artists that are in the business to make a profit, lets not blur the issue, no artist says to himself that I am going to spend my life savings to record, mix down, and manufacture my product so you can steal it, and then debate with me on weather it is ethical for you to do so or not. I really believe that artist invest all their time and money in their art to turn a profit, not be disrespected by forked tongued thieves that disrespect his work by not paying him for it. How can't anyone see that! Artists should go on strike and leave this selfish minded heartless band of thieves without any new music to play, and then let them see why they should have paid them for their worknobody wants to work for free! Respect a mans worth, and stop steeling the music!
