Keys to becoming a succesful hitter

To be a successful hitter one must be very determined. It takes a lot of practice to master the art of hitting a baseball. I learned from a man who used to be a scout for the Los Angeles Dodgers. His knowledge helped me win 2 Provincial titles and an MVP. To successfully hit a baseball one must:

1) position yourself in the batters box. It is essential to be able to reach the far end of the plate with your bat with your feet square with your soldiers. your knees must be partially bent so that your stance will be comfortable. The positioning of the body also allows the hitter to drive the ball in which ever direction he/she chooses. If timed correctly by adjusting the front foot you're capable of placing the ball in the direction of where your body is facing. The bat must be held comfortably, do not rest the bat on your shoulder or hold your elbow in the air. Keep both elbows down with your knuckles aligned on the bat. The key to great hits is to swing level. This can easily be accomplished by placing your chin on your front shoulder.

2) Once positioned properly and you've taken your signals you're now ready for the delivery. The batter must be patient and in full concentration. Once the pitchers arm goes up I like to do something called a trigger. A trigger is a slight body shift backwards without changing your positioning. This slight advantage allows the batter to time the pitch easier and also creates more power. The swing of the bat depends on the batting stance and therefore is essential that you learn how to properly set yourself up to hit the ball. The swing combines many steps at once to be completed. As the ball is thrown a small step with your front foot is taken in the direction of where you would like to place the ball. At the same time you are pushing with your back leg and pivoting on your back foot (squishing the bug) allowing you to turn the hips. These steps combine to collect power for the swing. The most important step is to move your chin from shoulder to shoulder successfully without pulling your head out. If done properly you will see the ball all the way through and will be successful in hitting it hard and straight.
