Definitely NO! If we start taxing Internet use I imagine that would just about do it in. The Internet is already wavering from computer viruses, identity theft, computer fraud, incessant spam and one of the most annoying is the pop-up ads that pop up right in the middle of your screen and simply won't go away. This blocks your view to whatever you were doing on screen and you can't make it go away without restarting your computer. I for one don't want to pay taxes for computer viruses, pop-up ads, Internet fraud, identity theft and all that spam!
Why should we pay taxes to use the Internet when we are already paying for the Internet service? Why make it more expensive than it already is? Especially, since all the junk mail, viruses and computer crashes have taken the fun out of relaxing at the computer.
The Internet is already expensive enough. Example: Virus protection software; Expensive downloads to fix computer problems caused by viruses, monthly Internet service company fee, not to mention shipping costs on anything you order on the internet. Just recently I ordered a couple of used books for $1.00 each, but the shipping cost was $11.00!
If Government can justify taxing the Internet, I'm afraid that next we will be taxed on the air we breathe! I imagine any kind of tax on Internet use would be similar to compound interest -which just keeps growing and unlike interest rates on money which fluctuate, taxes always go up, they never go down.
Once an Internet tax is initiated hang on to your wallet. It's like a California wild fire that can't be extinguished and keeps breaking out somewhere else. To sum it all up - if we are forced to pay tax for use of the Internet, then it will eventually be too expensive for most of us to use and many good folks will be forced to give it up.
Once Internet use becomes too Government regulated and heavily taxed I predict it may become another "Boston Party." Not a Tea Party, but Computer Party. Dumping our computers in Boston Bay!
