Unforgettable classic female country artists

Through the glare of the spotlight she looks upon her audience, not just as fans, but as faithful friends. For Country music boasts loyal, lasting fans because the music itself is timeless and life-like. With pioneers like Tammy Wynette, Lynn Anderson, Loretta Lynn, and of course the ever eternal Patsy Cline, there are many women who could be deemed 'unforgettable'. Many of the woman singers of modern times will always stick out, Sara Evans, or Shania Twain, and of course Carrie Underwood. They each have their own select manner, their own style within a style, if you will. Each of these big haired ladies will be remembered by one thing or the other. It is entirely possible that I have been preparing for this article for my entire life.

I have been bred on country music; I cut my teeth on the likes of George Jones, and the legendary Conway Twitty (RIP). I have listened to it all of my life. I have seen legends and current stars grace many stages, and been fortunate to see some artists perform that are no longer with us. My grandmother taught me so much, that I often know more than most people whom are twice the age of myself.

When I was very small, however, the impression was made upon my young mind that I would grow up to be completely fascinated by just one name. Ever since I can remember, she has been my absolute favorite, almost a part of me. As soon as I discerned who was who, out of my Granny's record albums, I would always flip to the same name; Tanya Tucker. Throughout my life, I have had to defend myself on loving her more than any other singer. It is entirely possible that I have been preparing for this article for my entire life.

This wild child of country music, or the 'Texas Tornado'. She's dated the likes of Don Johnson, Andy Gibb, and Desi Arnaz Jr. She met Elvis, survived a battle with drugs and booze, and became a household name at the tender age of thirteen. And the woman can sing. Her velvety voice seeps through the speaker's right into your very soul. You hear her on the radio; you know that it is her, unmistakably. With over 33 top five singles under her belt, you are bound to know a couple of them. Among them 'What's your mama's name', Strong enough to bend', 'Love me like you used to', and 'Down to my last teardrop'.

Tanya was born October tenth 1958 in Seminole Texas. She is the youngest of three, she's got a big brother, Don, and her older sister LaCosta dabbled in music herself, but was not nearly as successful as little sis T. Her father
