Flirting tips for boomers: How to do what doesn't come naturally

There she is, right there across the room. She's everything you've been looking for, piercing blue eyes, raven hair, slender legs. You start to cross the room towards her, a smile spreading over your mouth when you imagine what it will be like to kiss her. But wait, you just remembered...you're not 18 anymore.

You see him, handsome and charming. He's surrounded by people who are laughing at his stories, touching his arm. You feel his presence all the way over here. You steel yourself, stand up a little straighter, tug at the hem of your skirt. A smile spreads across your lips when you wonder if he'll bring flowers on the first date. But wait, you just remembered...you're a divorcee with two children.

What do these scenarios have in common? You probably figured that out already. It seems that old buzz kill, lack of confidence, has reared its ugly head again. Maybe you're divorced, or you have children. Maybe you've put on a couple of pounds or lost a bit of hair. Whatever reasons you might have to think you're not attractive enough, or young enough or thin enough may be all wrong.

What is attraction? According to Oxford it means appealing, inviting, interesting. And you're all three of those things, aren't you? So go ahead, flirt a little. Flirting isn't about being the best looking or the richest or driving the best car. It's about how you see yourself and how you project that image. You may look in the mirror and wonder where that 18 year old went, let me tell you he's still there, attitude and all. So when you see the girl of your dreams or the man of the hour, let that teenager come out to play.

Self image follows us throughout our entire lives. Whether we're ten or eighty, we seem to struggle with how we see ourselves or worry how others see us. Baby boomers may have the most trouble since most of us were born in a culture that proclaimed sexual freedom and morality at once. It can be confusing, to say the least. But now you find yourself playing the dating game and wondering whether or not to roll the dice. Go ahead and place your bets.

What can you do to feel better about yourself? What can you do to project that young mentality in an older body? Plenty. If you want to attract others to you, start with yourself.

1) Get enough exercise: Studies show adequate exercise reduce stress levels, lower blood pressure, release feel good endorphins and keep off the pounds. Walk for 30 minutes a day and you'll not only look better, you'll feel better too.

2) You are what
