For people buying for an artsy or creative teen girl this holiday season, this is a great opportunity for some fun, "out of the box" shopping. Here are some places to look for gifts for your budding artist.
CRAFT STORES
Shops like Michaels or Joann Fabrics are full of fun things for the creative types. Look for beginners' cake decorating kits, scrap-booking tools, or a how-to book on knitting. She will love the opportunity to create some cute new things.
BOUTIQUES
Instead of hitting up the mall or other chain stores, try finding a boutique off the beaten path for unique gifts. Here you may find pretty pieces of pottery, beautiful jewelery, or whimsical little knickknacks. She may particularly appreciate items done by local artists.
ELECTRONIC STORES
Radio Shack might not seem a likely source for creative gifts, but you may be surprised. Your creative genius might need a video camera to start her documentary film. An aspiring painter may love a camera to branch out into photography.
Just browsing around stores you don't normally patronize will generate plenty of good gift ideas. Buying for a creative girl may require a bit of creativity on the buyer's part as well, but your teen will appreciate your thoughtfulness.
