Obviously, there will be a great debate of this topic. Environmentally, not pulling or driving an RV to the woods would be vastly better for the world. Yet, sometimes tents can be just as harmful when considering the chemicals used in both making and rain proofing tents.
Personally, as a boy we used several different styles of pull behind RVs. From a small Scottie when I was very young to a 28' Camper when we were older and more mobile. There was of course 5 people residing in this small compact area from a couple of days to months during the summer at the local campground on a summer seasonal lot. The good old days.
Now with so many technical advances I would think that for most it isn't about camping. I would have to believe it is more about being able to go out to campgrounds allowing children to have fun. While allowing most Parents' the opportunity to still live their normal lives.
I have nothing against this personally but, if you want to go "Camping" then by all means leave the technical advances at home. Whatever happened to watching TV if you had one on "Rabbit Ears" and having no phone for an unlimited feeling of peace and tranquility. We teach children that vacation is important and yet, not really on vacation anymore with Internet, wireless everything, etc.
At least with tents, unless you buy a generator eventually the batteries might wear out. Then you would actually be enjoying your vacation, resting and relaxing. Which I thought it was actually supposed to be about.
