REMOVING THE WATER FROM THE BOAT
"The ocean represents man,
the boat represents woman.
The whole object of the ocean
is to get in the boat."
I thought seriously about this for awhile
and related it to my life in an analogy.
After being married for 24 years
to an ill-matched individual,
I realized that this boat was being destroyed.
and someday this boat would cease to float.
His waves were massive and fierce,
there was no bending or calming down.
There was always the storm
after the calm.
Land was always beyond reach.
Whenever the seas would subside
to where the boat
could be restored
the storm would hit again.
The boards had rotted through,
the mass broken in several
different places.
The boat was born again in 1975 but
continued to rough through the storms,
trying new locations,
steering different courses,
but to no avail
even when turning everything
over to God,
because by now the boat Knew only one way
of survival.
But the day came when the boat
had no where to turn,
the seas were raging and there
was less calm before the storm
and the doctors said
"that much more and this boat
would be beyond repair."
Once and for all the boat
turned everything over to God,
trusting completely
that He could calm the sea.
So God in His infinite Wisdom,
had this little boat leave the
rugged sea to find a more
peaceful shore.
Once upon the shore the Lord
having full reign this time
began repairs.
It was a slow process
at first, but as the boat
began to trust more
she found new channels,
she will never be completely
restored for some of the damages
were physically beyond repair,
but it's been smooth sailing.
The Word of God says that
we should set sail on only
calm seas, oceans that are
going in the same direction.
