Oprah ogles Obama: Stars use their media power to back presidential candidates

By Willette Fletcher

For the next several months, the greatest national race will be dissected and under the scrutiny of concerned citizens. Whatever message is communicated in our American communities about unifying the nation, it is as essential and critical as selecting the best candidate
for president. If that is the case, then Ms. Winfrey's influence can genuinely strengthen

Mr. Obama's political and societal reach. Obama's interpersonal and political savvy is commended by his colleagues and his awareness of social issues and integrity is highly respected by many prominent people.

As a media professional and citizen, Oprah conveys her conviction and beliefs daily via her media empire-she uses her persuasive expertise in several diverse arenas. Her production genius is not rivaled, whether in expert-advice or philanthropic generosity; it has not been questioned before, why now?

Ms. Winfrey is an inspirational voice among the media moguls of her industry and the overall public. Oprah has proven to be insightful in understanding her audiences throughout the years; having her hand on the pulse of society, suggests that she has done the necessary research to give her endorsement to someone she feels can offer innovative direction for our country. We are approaching the most revolutionary era of our time.

Some have indicated that her endorsement is unethical, however, all Americans have the right to "Freedom of speech, press, religion, etc...." One might focus on the integrity of the messages and the intentions of the messengers. Ms. Winfrey's notoriety can only help to boost Obama's viability to a nation ready for change.
