relation to the subject. Use story books related to children who attend preschool, books with colorful pictures are always the best for younger children as it allows them to picture the situation visually.
2. ROLE PLAY.
Talk about how much fun preschool will be. Use their teddies or toys as prompts to role play specific situations at preschool. Turn take in playing the role of the teacher and the child. Use this opportunity to teach the school rules to your child and overemphasize how wrong it is to break these rules. Explain why rules are need in preschool tell them all about the need for safety. Allowing your child to have a grasp of the schools rules before they attend will avoid any unnecessary correction within their first few days.
3. VISIT THE PRESCHOOL.
Whether it is community, private, Montessori, Steiner, high scope, head start or another program you decided to involve your child in, nearly all preschools within their policies include open days or allow you to make visits within school days. If it is possible try visiting on a regular school day as the child and you get a much better feel for the school. Allow yourself and the child to become comfortable with the class teacher. Make notes of the teachers name, and names of other children that will be in the same class. This allows your child to become acquainted with their names before their first day. If possible try and see are there any children living in close proximity to your home. If you find a few arrange a play dates with them before your child's first day this way they will already have friends at preschool. Ensure you get a timetabled list of activities so that you can both become familiarized with, it also this will give you the opportunity to introduce any activity to your child if they have not already tried it. Scout around the room to find a few things you know will interest your child, especially items you may not have at home, you can use these toys as encouragement to enter the preschool on their first day, as a way of distraction.
4. SPECIAL BOY/GIRL.
Give your child the impression they are very lucky to go to preschool as it is such a fun and happy place to be. Allow them to think that you would love to go make little jokes that you are too big and if you went you would end up breaking all the toys. Include your child in buying the necessities needed for preschool, new backpack lunch box, cup and other such items. Let them choose their favorite types and encourage them that they are
