Memories. In any move, the feelings that well up from
packing you or your family's belongings are stirred up
by memory. There is truth to the homeopathic claims that
our olfactory senses can affect our mood change and also
stir up memories of the past. The smell of a pine or fir
tree may bring back seasonal memories to some. Floral
scents may bring a rush of thoughts on the coming Spring
or being outside. Some perfumes have been touted to contain
pheromones to attract the opposite sex. Perfumes should be
used to accentuate you and not as a cover-up for what should
have been a stronger ant-perspirant or deodorant. But some
look for their own private or personal scent that just gets
them through the day, even a stressful one like moving day.
Here are a list of decisions for making such a selection:
1. Find a scent that is not overpowering to you, your family
or the movers. They may need your decisions and you do not
want to shun them away from a bold scent cover-up.
2. Find a scent that reminds you of happier times. This can
be why you bought the fragrance, who bought you the perfume,
or special memories of when you wore it in the past.
3. Since most perfumes are affected by your body heat and
your own chemical make-up, be sure to choose one that doesn't
sour or change as the stressful day progresses.
4. Be sure to get the opinion of those who will be around you.
Dab some on and let them judge.
5. Carry the perfume with you so throughout the day you can use
it as an occasional refresher or a burst of a scent sensation.
Remember a moving day is stressful and calls for the occasional
deep breath, why not make yours a pleasing if not memorable one?
