I can not tell you how many times a day I day dream about the Caribbean. The beach is even more on my mind after being relocated to Cheyenne, WY and the closest thing I have to an ocean are waving fields of brown prairie grass. So obviously I am already biased to this topic and believe that cheaper travel to wonderful beaches and drinks with umbrellas is always worth it.
Summer heat is all relative. If you live in a place that is already hot and humid, then the summer heat is no big deal. If you live in the artic, then the heat could be a welcome relief. It is important to remember what the off season offers to the average vacationer. With the heat comes cheaper prices, but more importantly, the resorts are also less crowded. I honeymooned to Jamaica in July and guess what? It was Hot! The five star hotel I stayed at was at forty percent capacity. This means that my wife and I received more individual treatment and we never had to wait for anything. We could go to any of the restaurants we wanted, scuba all the time, and never had to wait long at the bar. These benefits combined with the lower cost outweigh the negative effects of the summer heat.
If you are allergic to heat and sun, then maybe the summer in the Caribbean is not for you. If not, you should explore the cheap fares and take advantage of a great tourist destination without the tourists.
