Assessing if reality programs should be banned from television

Reality Shows. Mediocrity as entertainment.

I wanted to watch some television, last night. Something entertaining. A show that I could immerse myself in and escape dreary, boring every day life. I wanted to look at attractive, talented performers. People who had something to offer, whether it be a good voice, good acting skills or a talent for humor.
Instead, I found channel after channel of reality television.

I hate that word, and I hate the concept.

The television was full of unattractive, untalented, average people. Real people!
Since when did we want to look at real people on television?
I can see them every day, at work, in stores and in restaurants, why would I want to switch on my television and see more real people?

My television is the place where I go to escape.
Where I can watch gladiators trying to kill each other playing football, or pretty people hamming it up on Soap Operas. I want to see murder mysteries, romances and stand-up comedians or amazing singers.
But I do not want to see Jo Smo from Puke ville and their boring daily routine!
I cannot watch these reality shows for more than five minutes, because nothing ever happens. Well, nothing I care about.

My first encounter was 'I love New York!'
Please! What a bunch of cr.. that show is!
A group of would-be television personalities vying for the love of an ugly woman.
I apologize for not being politically correct in this touchy time that we live in, but that woman should not be on my television.
I didn't see unattractive people like her on my T V, twenty years ago, unless they had some talent. Why would I want to spend thirty minutes watching an attractive, untalented person?
I wouldn't!
Ugly is Ugly!
So I switched the channel.

And then it was 'Keeping up with the Kardashians.'
Now, explain to me why anyone would want to watch an Armenian Princess who doesn't do anything? Who's only claim to fame is her dad, a boring lawyer?
As far as I am concerned, in order for me to spend half an hour looking at a dumb woman on the TV, she has to be at the very least some thing special to look at, and not someone who could be a regular on Nip and Tuck.
Does anyone really care what she does on a daily basis?

That's what I mean. All these men and women on reality shows are average looking at best, and they have no talents that set them apart from ordinary people.
Why are they cluttering up my Television?

Even the so-called, Playboy bunnies next door, do not look like the Playboy bunnies I remember drooling over as a teen.
Those bunnies
