Being a fan of late night Talk Radio, I have learned about something called "Shadow People."
It sounds spooky to me, but as the night goes by and this being the chosen topic, one learns that there are experts in this field.
What are they? Apparently they are wanderers of a separate dimension. Once night driving alone during a dark stretch of the road, I did my very best to conjure one up. Due to my fabulous creative spirit, I had William Shakespeare sitting right next to me, in his pumpkin pants, pointy beard, and ruffled shirt. Yes, he was swearing tights. This probably doesn't qualify because I was trying too hard, plus there was the extra wishful thinking aspect to consider.
I agree that shadows are very interesting. There is the Freudian shadow, or is it the Jungian shadow? Sorry, I cannot remember which psychoanalyst created the name. The concept is that whatever we are ourselves, we throw out into the Universe and project it onto others. Thus, when we hurt others, we really only hurt ourselves theme. When someone gossips about another, it usually illuminates their own weaknesses and not someone else's, you know the drill.
There is the old time radio show titled "The Shadow", where the storyline revolves around a private detective. My thesaurus states that words to be used in variance of "shadow" as verbs include: cover, wrap up, put on, superimpose, curtain, lay over, clothe, screen, shield, obscure, eclipse, fog, befog, fuzz, occult, film, film over, and scum.
