The Iphone seems to me like a hyped-up overpriced gadget that spruces up features that are mostly already offered by other phones. It's undeniably eyecandy, I'll give it that, but as far as being innovative, I don't think so. The widgets that pass for applications in iPhones don't really compare to the vast array of software from different manufacturers that make them for other phones' platforms. I personally prefer windows-based PDA phones. The eyecandy factor and the flow of the tight interface of iPhonesis something that Windows Mobile can improve on, I admit, but aside from that, iPhone's features are things that I've already seen and used in my Windows-based PDA. Not opening iPhone for a wider range of software developers is a big deal-breaker for me. I doubt if the iPhone can be what my PDA is to me. You got to hand it to Apple, though. They marketed this device so brilliantly that people really began to see things as Apple advertised them to be after a while. I guess it all boils down to how far I can stretch the iPhone's capability. In this respect, I don't think I'll ever see it as an innovative, revolutionary device. I need to see something more than just shiny buttons and smooth screen transitions to call it that.
