Deciding on more severe punishments for sex offenders and child abusers

Watching Nancy Grace report the latest publicized incident of a child molestation there is much about this group of sexual offenders that terrorizes me. The ease at which they pass briefly through the legal system makes it seem like traffic court. Two different defense lawyers were already proposing reasons why this individual child predator might fit through a legal loophole. It's hard to resist endorsing one frustrated mother's "baseball bat solution." Letting an offender out of jail after a few months is like giving a second chance to a rabid pit bull. The "golly gee might he bite again" attitude is obviously naive. But not any more naive than thinking a pervert might be rehabilitated.

Our Federal government funds studies of all types. We need to know why an obscure fish is on the verge of becoming extinct. It's imperative that we ascertain over and over that "homeless people" are homeless because they "don't have a place to live." Why not bring together a sizable group of psychologists - fund them for a study on the "Causative factors contributing to the dramatic increase in perverts who stalk children and what law makers can do to separate them from society - permanently."

There aren't many mothers who show concern for rehabilitation or redemption of the pedophile who scars their kid for life. Kids can no longer play outside freely. Apparently now they can't go shopping with their parents either. There was that recent case of a little girl being stalked and fondled twice while shopping with her mom in Walmart. Twice. I saw on tv that she was within view of her mother. Her mother was looking at merchandise but how could she shop if she kept her eyes focused on her daughter instead of the merchandise. Will we be chaining our child to the shopping cart as a safety precaution soon? We're forced to teach little kids to watch out for perverts before they're ready to comprehend the reasons why. Does no one else see the irony in the situation.

When a small child asks, "What will the bad stranger do?"

What do you tell them besides "Take you away and we'll never see you again."

Just as they don't fully understand at a young age that dead is forever, the word never and the concept of kidnapping doesn't cause them much alarm.

One reason for a pervert being a pervert is having been molested during childhood. Yet, although far more girls are molested than boys it's rare for a child predator to be a woman. That needs to be explored. Even if it's a cause - it has to stop at
