bedroom or dining room, especially when the room is small.
Foyers and Entrances
Even if you have a small foyer, or if your front door opens directly into a room, the entrance way is where Chi first enters your home. Encourage an open, inviting space by keeping the front door free of clutter. Traditionally, your best painting is hung in the foyer to invite guests and family members.
Secondary entrances through a garage or patio, should also be inviting no matter the size. Dark, neglected areas can drain Chi from the home. Hang mirrors, colorful artwork, or special family photos to welcome you home.
Hallways and Staircases
Hallways and staircases are small spaces that are often overlooked, yet these areas are important flows of Chi. Narrow hallways can be used as galleries, showcasing artwork or family photographs. Avoid stepping down artwork along staircases, which accentuates descent. Instead place pictures in a straight horizontal line. Always ensure hallways and staircases have adequate lighting.
Closets, Drawers, and Cabinets
These smallest spaces in your home often hide a jumble of clutter which will negatively affect energy flow. Organize these spaces by first removing the clutter. If you don't love it or need it, get rid of it. Storage bins and additional shelving can be easily added to improve organization in these tiny spaces. Line drawers and shelves to keep them clean and don't neglect the inside of a closet when painting a room.
By following these suggestions, and learning more about Feng Shui in books or online, you can begin to improve your positive energy, regardless of the size of your home.
