Be sure to be aware of the things that potentially could cause you your job. It will get you in trouble if you don't keep them in check. Here's the list and how you can avoid them:

1. Dishonesty - No one can tolerate this. Be sure to own up when you've made a mistake, everyone will know the truth one way or the other. Of course, no need to remind you to never steal anything.

2. Disrespect for bosses and peers - Always keep your cool and speak in a moderate voice, never raise it whatever the case. Everyone deserves respect. If there are different view points, just talk things out in a peaceful manner. Never talk behind anyone's back. Word will get around. If you have complaints or anything to say about somebody, settle it between the two of you, don't start the rumor mill running.

3. Bad work ethics - Tardiness, unenthusiasm, disorganized, uncooperative behavior, arrogance...all of these could be quite intolerable especially in the most extreme forms. Be careful with the way you work.

4. Unsettled differences - Things could get really bad and bite you in your behind if you don't settle differences after a misunderstanding or an argument. It's hard to work when there are ill feelings present anyway, so better make up and get things flowing smoothly again.

5. Non-platonic relationships - This has a potential of being a rich fodder for the rumor mill. Of course these couldn't be avoided, but try your best to keep your relationship private. When at work, treat your partner professionally. Needless to say, having an affair with somebody who's taken will definitely get you in trouble in whatever scenario.

6. Politics at work - Politicking isn't uncommon in the work field. Just maintain your ground and don't let others' opinions sway you if it's against your belief.

7. Doing too much - Accept what you are capable of doing and don't trip over yourself in trying to do too much. Don't sacrifice the quality of your work by trying to accomplish everything in one go. It's better to do things one at a time and getting them done rather than leaving everything hanging.

8. Miscommunication - If you're the boss and want something done, be sure that your subordinate understands exactly what you want done. If you're the subordinate, listen carefully to the instruction. Miscommunication could really set back a lot of things.

9. Unhealthy competition - Don't take things personally. Competition between peers should never get personal but taken as an opportunity to grow together.

10. Greed - Be it greed for power or for money, it's never a good thing. It should never be the driving force for you to work hard. Work because you love the job and because you want to save for your future and you want to contribute something to your company. You'll be a slave of your job if greed is the one that drives you.
