While most tourists are attracted to the white sand and palm trees, Jamaica offers many activities that aren't centered on the beach. Although the beautiful blue water will keep visitors busy during the day, there is plenty to do once the sun goes down, even a little good old fashioned gambling.

Since the Jamaican culture doesn't promote gambling, until recently there weren't any casinos on the island. Now you can find a few scattered about in the bigger cities. There are also a number of resorts that are home to gaming rooms or lounges, as they are called. The majority house slot machines, video poker, and electronic craps, blackjack, roulette, and the extremely popular Caribbean stud poker.

These resorts are spread through out the island, in Montego Bay, Kingston, Negril, and Ocho Rios. So, if you're looking for a place to spend a little time gambling, there are plenty of options.

In Montego Bay, on the northern coast of Jamaica, are two resorts that would be an ideal choice for any gambler.

The Holiday Inn Sunspree is an all inclusive resort about six miles from the airport. With its 524 rooms and suites, it's considered perfect for couples, singles, and families with children. Among the resort's attractions, including swimming pools, a saloon, and gift shop, is a small game room. The game room is home to about 50 slot machines, making it a great stop for a little gambling.

The Coral Cliff Hotel, located in the heart of the Hip Strip, has the largest gaming lounge in Jamaica. Open 24 hours, and offering 120 slot machines, this resort is perhaps the best choice for the dedicated gambler. The lounge is suited with tropical jungle dcor and offers free drinks to its guests. With dining, shows, and live music, there is something for everyone at the Coral Cliff.

Also in Montego, is Caribbean Treasures. Housing 51 gaming machines, this casino is open from 2pm through 2am daily.

To the east of Montego Bay is Ocho Rios, a booming city filled with tourists and resorts.

Here you'll find the hugely popular Hedonism III resort. Known for its clothing optional atmosphere, the resort is great for anyone looking to cut loose, age 18 or older. Its amenities include restaurants, pools, a fitness center, and a gaming room. There are only about 20 slot machines here, but it's still a good choice for adults who are leaving the children at home.
