price on something, you can always stash it in the closet or in the attic for a few months. By shopping early you also avoid the rush and the extra added stress. If you like to give out seasonal items like Christmas sweaters, ornaments, or snowman figurines, buy them in January when they are on sale. You can also save a lot of money by getting winter clothes in the spring and summer when they are on clearance. Also, consider doing your holiday shopping in the summer when retailers have semi-annual sales and when your city or state has a tax holiday.
Homemade gifts. Homemade items always make for great Christmas presents, and there are no limits on what you can give. You can bake a cake for everyone on your list, or make an assortment of homemade candies and cookies. If you are an artist or crafter, you can use your skills to make portraits, jewelry, figurines, clothing, or linens. You can also make your own gift basket of soap, candles, and scented oils. People will like homemade gifts and will be more likely to remember them because of the time and effort you put in to making the gift, and because it will have your own personal touch. And if you do not cook or make crafts, you can buy homemade goods from private individuals either online or offline. Even though you're not making it yourself, you can still get a good price as well as a good quality item.
This December keep a few thoughts in mind above all. In gift giving, it is always the thought that counts, and the best gifts are not necessarily the most expensive ones. As long as you remember this and take a little more time to plan and organize, you can avoid the stress of overspending and enjoy a worry free holiday.
