We all know that attacking an unarmed citizen with a weapon of potentially deadly force is a crime.
The law I am referencing especially applies to the police, as constitutional law was designed to protect citizens from excessive force being used against them.
CBS news reported that there have been over 150 deaths by police attacks with tasers of unarmed civilians since January.
The UN and Amnesty International have reported that there are now 290 deaths by tasering in America, and declared the use of Tasers on civilians to be a form of torture.
Yet, no one has raised an eyebrow to the laws being broken by these offending officers. In most cases no action is taken, and for those where the issues of excessive force being applied are followed through upon, the offenders receive suspension with pay. This is a great mockery of our laws.
Since when is a paid vacation punishment?
Police should be required to either replace their guns with tasers, or to use the same discretion when pulling the weapon.
Having both weapons is not necessary, and only adds to the risk of death to a civilian.
NBC, CBS, and other stations report regularly on this subject, and
it appears to be a hot topic as to whether or not these deaths were
caused by excessive force.
Of course excessive force was used, the civilian was unarmed. Not to mention there is no proof stating that the victims would have died after the arrest, even if they had not been tasered.
Are our police so under trained that they can not control an unarmed civilian without drawing a weapon they are aware can kill the civilian?
I fear so. For a long time I would not watch the television show "Cops", because so many laws were being broken by the police, and it was being rewarded with media publicity.
However, I now watch the show, and document, each law I see violated by the growing numbers of police retained for hire, and trained through academies paid for through my tax dollars.
My main reason for observing closely the behavior of our police pertains to an incident that took place about three years ago.
I decided to take a walk down my street for some fresh air. I was walking along quietly, not bothering anyone, when a police car pulled up next to me.
I stopped walking and asked if I could be of some help. I was asked for identification, and when I told the officer that I had left my wallet at home, and that I was only taking a short walk for some fresh air, I was told to step to the back of the car.
The officer got out of his car and walked
