Hair restoration: What works and what doesn't

It is possible to beat the genetic gods and restore our balding heads to what was once a waving mane of sexual magnetism.

What doesn't work are products promoting a quick fix or those accompanied by the before and after shots of men peering down at their feet for the promise of a months free treatment.
We need look no further than Mother Nature herself for the absolute fix, somewhere out there she positioned an extract so perfect at replenishing hair that all you need to do is bathe your chrome dome in it and your troubles are over.

Some have dabbled and actually come close to finding the cure. A product that shall remain nameless here was discovered in the 1960's while a man was trekking through the jungles of South East Asia. Legend has it, the man came upon a "medicine woman" who had discovered the recipe for restoring hair. It took several trips back to the "medicine woman" and years of clinical studies and another flashy bottle hit the market. Sadly it has gone the way of other commercial enterprises of this nature with the additives and processes rendering the product useless to the consumer. There are two lessons to learn here - nothing you buy will restore your hair and a woman claiming to have cured baldness would not be practicing in the jungle, they would be living a lavishly opulent lifestyle in New York, London or Paris.

So what does work? Listening to my advice for one, all you need from there is time, patience and the spirit of adventure, for the answer is not lining the shelves of the local supermarket, or growing wildly throughout your nearest National Park. It's in Iraq. That may come as a surprise, but it's true and I will tell you where and how to find it.

In the north of Iraq lies the city of Mosul, which the Tigris river flows through. Find a canoe, preferably one without bullet holes and travel south to the township of Quayarrah and moor your vessel near a large pump station, it will be obvious when you're there believe me.

From the pump station you'll find a 16 inch steel pipe running in a south westerly direction. There will be an elderly man named Sali sitting on a white colored plastic chair. He will be wearing a white dishdasha and Reebok's and smoking a "rip off" Marlboro cigarette. Ask him for a drag of the cigarette and when you cough up the first lung, you'll know you've hot pay dirt. Say these exact words to him three times - "It is fair to have more hair than a bear".
He will load you immediately onto a donkey and you will begin a three day and two night journey following that pipeline through the most ungodly countryside you've ever seen. Please attempt this only during October, after the searing heat of summer and before the cold. Don't be concerned when the pipe disappears underground, Sali knows exactly the track and where to take you. When you reach the blessed place, Sali will unroll the small carpet strapped to his back and fly away on it. Not to worry, look down and notice the drips of water coming from the join in the pipe. Don't let the yellowish tinge turn you off as you stare into this marvel no scientist can explain. Get down on all fours and immerse your entire head into the pool and leave it there for 25 seconds. repeat this process 16 times at intervals of three minutes and you're troubles will be over ... hair restoration troubles at least. You'll be stuck in a war torn country with no transportation or communication, you will be unable to determine friend from enemy, but at least you'll have a full head of hair.
