How to be eco-fashionable

That's right ladies and gentlemen, the world has gone green! Everything from stylish money saving veichles to the clothes we go out in. That's right, green is now in! For all of you folks who want to do what they can to help out our ecosystem have we got the thing for you.

Many of the clothing made today causes a lot of pollution and waste. Believe it or not, but growing cotton uses 22 percent of insecticides globally. To make one cotton t shirt we have to use 257 gallons of water. Talk about a waste! Let's not even mention all the dyes and bleaches used in creating that one t shirt. Those chemicals spread all over. There are alternatives that may prove to be stylish and comfortable as well.

Hemp is by far the best eco friendly fabric. Hemp comes from a plant that does not need too much space to grow. That are very dense plants and are closely joined together. This means weeds can't break through which means less need for herbicides. The fibers spun are long lasting and durable making it great for ropes. Hemp comes in many different weights and textures.

Wool is also a very friendly fabric. Many companies abuse wool, but if it is made right, it could be harmless. You just need a sheep. The wool comes off the sheep and is then woven. Many manufactures abuse the sheep and put dye in the wool. Be sure to know where your wool came from.

Organic cotton uses no pesticides or herbicides. They use natural dyes and have even been able to breed cotton to grow brown and green to further reduce dying.

Who doesn't enjoy wearing silk? A better solution is soy silk. This fabric is made from the by products of the tofu making process. You can naturally dye them. A newer fabric is corn fiber. Scientists discovered ways to take the starch and sugar in corn and turn it into fiber.

There are certain things you can do to keep helping the environment once you have these eco friendly clothes. Instead of using bleach you should try and sun dry. The sun will naturally bleach the piece of clothing. Lemon juice may also help. Eucalyptus oil is a great grass stain remover as is rubbing alcohol. Baking soda is also great for stains.

There is no doubt that you can walk around in fashion as more and more people are going green. There are safer alternatives than chemicals and dyes.
