Band profile: Black Sabbath

Black Sabbath started out as a blues band. After very limited success in pubs throughout England Tony Iommi decided to switch the bands sound and one of the most successful heavy metal bands on the planet was born. The first album self titled Black Sabbath came across with a sound that people had never heard before.

The most famous song on that album was The Wizard.

What pushed Black Sabbath to the top and beyond was Iommi's chords and rips on the guitar paired up with Ozzy Osbornes voice it was a match made in heaven but most would say hell. Their second album named Paranoid would hold the song the band is most famous for Paranoid. This song launched them into the billboard charts and the rest was history.

When Ozzy was more into drugs and let other things take up his time other than the band in late 1979 Ronnie James Dio took over as lead vocalist for Black Sabbath following Ozzy Osborne's departure. Dio wasn't with the band very long but he still had a huge impact on the bands success and it was all for the better.

With the release of Heaven and Hell and Mob rules the band wasn't off of the charts long. Dio and the other members of the band had disputes over the direction of where the music they were making was going in and Dio left the band and took the drummer Vinnie Appice with him and they formed their own group called Dio.

All of Black Sabbaths fans thought that the band had met their demise and it was the end this was not to be though in 1992 Dio re joined with the band and released the album dehumanizer. The album went gold and the song dehumanizer made it into the top 25 on the charts.

Also in the early nineties they released The Ozzy Osborne Years, And in 2006 they released The Dio years. There have been countless re union tours with Ozzy and Dio. The band has been deemed the heavy-metal band that won't die.
