Sometimes these qualities demands you sand, smooth out, or even fill up holes and damages (use SPACKLE, or adhesive tape and spackle). Just remember, would-be-painters and do-it-yourselfers, all the cautious things to do near wet paint. I treat paint as if it were a dangerous substance: avoid spills, minimize accidents and drops (clear the room, or areas near walls) and keep clean rags and paper towels handy. Also I use tape to separate areas (for different shades or colors) and avoid having too many hands, or very young hands around the work site!
In USA there are stores like HOME DEPOT that will match your paint and shade of color by computer or experience, perfectly, every time. Once you have made all purchases, including new brushes, use sail cloth or a thick plastic on the floor, especially over carpeted areas. And do have someone be near you if you use a ladder. Good luck and keep on writing and painting, ARTISTS!
