Now, I have been on both sides of this problem, and yes it is a problem, and it is not as fun as it would seem. When you are the child being bullied you seem to have this thought in the back of your mind that it's your fault. And one hundred percent of the time, that's not true. From my experiences I have come to find a few different schools of thought. One is to get physical and do unto him as he has onto you. I would classify this under a "last resort" method but a method nonetheless. Another way to deal with a bully at school is to not resort to blows, but sarcastic remarks here and there to let the bully know that you are in fact the smarter being and as such he should bow down to you, but again that can backfire immensely. But for every crap-tastic plan there is a magnificent plan that works every time. In this case there are actually two plans that will work perfectly. Option A is to just leave the situation every time it presents itself. If you feel like things may get a little out of hand or you are sick and tired of going through these motions every day, put down your dukes, and leave. Option B is get a parent involved, and I know as a child who is already getting bullied you don't want to seem like a wimp who needs an adult to bail you out but you know what, you are going to be very thankful that you did very soon.
Oh, and as for being the bully, and how to stop it from that side, you can relax and go out and be active. Not even like physically active but mentally active as well. Play basketball, join a boxing circuit, or, and I highly recommend this course of action: write, write, and write some more. You'll be surprised at how much relaxed you'll become.
