Is the Women's Right movement destroying our families? No, I do not think so. Not so long ago women in America had limited or no choices. A woman was expected to marry, have children, and be a housewife. Working outside the home, especially with young children in the house, was nearly unheard of. With no choice in how they could live their lives many women resented their families and their children. Though it was never spoken of out loud many felt trapped in their homes and in situations that society controlled for them.
With the Women's Rights movement suddenly women had a choice. No longer were they required to stay home. They were free to follow their hearts and use their minds in ways that many had never imagined before. And that is just want many women did.
When staying at home became a choice and not a burden women were able to see it with eyes open. Much of the resentment and frustrations were taken away because they had the freedom to stay home. Mothers who choose to stay home did so without the burden of force taken of their shoulders, and so their families became stronger and happier. And those who did not have it in their hearts to remain at home could find work outside the house, no longer trapped in a life their hearts do not want.
There is a saying often said among Southern families. "When mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy." It rings true here. When the mother is free to choose her path she feels happier than if she were forced into someone else's ideal. And a happier mother makes for a stronger family.
