Product reviews: Southern Comfort

Southern Comfort is not good for you. I guess no alcohol is, but if you've ever overdone it with SoCo, that's a mistake you only make one time.

For me it's on the same list as Cuervo Gold and Bacardi Dark, as huge mistakes. Not only is whiskey itself prone to producing a nasty hangover, but Southern Comfort is infused with a sickening amount of sugar. I guess it may be nice for getting children to start drinking straight liquor, but for adults, all that sugar in entirely unnecessary.

From a philosophical standpoint, I don't understand why anybody would extol the virtues of Southern Comfort. If you're going to drink whiskey, drink whiskey, not whiskey and cough syrup. Or at least buy your whiskey and cough syrup separately, so you have the option not to imbibe all that sugar.

Honestly, what are you supposed to do with it? You'll get sick if you drink it straight. So you must mix it with something right? Most mixers have sugar in them, so basically, you're drinking double sugar. In my experience, that means double hangover-double gut rot-double headache.

There are two liquors that I can drink that contain a bunch of sugar: Jagermeister and Limoncello. And that's only to drink ice cold shots with caution. No need to mix with anymore sugar. Southern Comfort is on the never, ever, again list, unless it's hidden in some crazy mixed shot that somebody else ordered. Other than that it's a path that I urge nobody to go down. I wouldn't wish a SoCo hangover on my worst enemy.
