US elections 2008 commentary: The Democrat candidates

by GOPMOM

I suppose I should once again weigh in on the 08 Presidential race, seeing as we are in the thick of it.

Let me start by saying I'm thrilled to hear Barack Obama is pulling close to Hillary Clinton. Nothing could make me happier this holiday season than seeing Hillary Clinton watch her shot at the White House dissolve before her eyes.

Really, if she is as smart as she thinks she is, even she knows she doesn't have a chance in hell of being popularly elected President of the U.S.A. (And since all her sore loser liberal cohorts are in a mad dash to side step the Constitution and abolish the Electoral College in so-called "make or break states", the popular vote is the one she needs.)

I read the other day that most of Hillary's support comes from blue collar single mothers. I find it hard to believe that women in that demographic are rooting for a former stay at home wife and mother who was willing to sacrifice all her dignity and integrity in a marriage to a pathological womanizing egomaniac on the off chance she might get to be President one day. I think most single mothers are intelligent enough to recognize a snake oil saleswoman when they see one.

As for Obama, I repeat my earlier prediction that the USA is not ready for a black man with a dodgy name to rule the roost. We're not ready for socialism either. Now, Oprah has gotten into the race and I say good for her. I can't wait to see what happens to her ratings when all those upper middle class white lacrosse moms realize you have to be on his side to be on her side. She's been selling a lot of schlock to us for a long time and it's time for her to move on. She is no longer one of the people and neither is Obama.

And that is the crux of the matter. The Democrats keep trying to sell us a plan for a new America. What they don't realize is that most of us are pretty pleased with how things are. Sure, there are a few kinks to be ironed out. But for most of us, we can work it out on our own. I certainly don't need another Washington bureaucrat meddling in my life. I can take care of myself.

That is what it comes down to, isn't it? The big difference between reds and blues. Us reds like to take responsibility for ourselves, our families, our lives and our happiness. The blues are always trying to convince you that they can take on the responsibility for you. You just sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.

Oh, and send money. Our country has a great tradition of offering opportunities. The liberals have taken this tradition too far. They have decided that everyone is entitled to the good life whether they have earned it or not.

Well, I'll tell you what, if you live here, you already have a good life. If you want to make it better, work harder and take responsibility. Because no matter how much those Dem candidates promise, there is a limit to the benefits the taxpayer will provide.
