Reflections: The phenomenon of shadows

Shadows abound

Shadows are so precautiously defined as silhouetted images casted by an illuminating presence. We slightly give it any thought but what do you think is the significance of a shadow? Everything on this God-given earth casts one, except the ground which is the canvas for this ethereal artwork, so, what and why is it? What's the reason for this incomprehensible darkened outline of a figure and why does everything possess one? Contemplate this, meditate on it, attempt to understand its value and you'll definitely assess doubtful reasoning. But wait! If everything has a time and a purpose then what must this one be? Too many questions? Yet, so few answers. Well, let's see if we can iron out but one question.

Firstly, why do we possess this accompanying phenomenon practically everywhere we go. We certainly don't believe we need or even care to have this companion. It goes conspicuously unnoticed and oblivious to anyone except possibly a toddler a year of age or so. Let's take a moment, to look at our friend, no distinguishable features, not even a character likeness of oneself, no mirrored image as that of yourself awakening and having first glanced
at yourself in preparation for your day, why'd we possibly want to have it grace our presence. It's an imperceptably delicate impersonal silhouette of our outward physical features with absolute misunderstanding, unappealing crudeness with ineffectual prejudice. We've no idea of how and what to feel or think of our darkened trace and its purveyance of our identity.

We're completely stumped but this evidently has no affect on our everyday routine because of its insignificantly minor role in our life. We travel about with no indicative reason to render any attention of our shadow's existence. If we gave it any thought, would we even notice if we lost it. It's highly unlikely we'd even give it the slightest thought; but wait, consider what would it be like if we did not to have a shadow. No eternal shadowy follower at our side, at our very whim, that's absurd! What's pertinently important is to analyze it, though it anonymously exists in this world, is it safe to assume if we'd lose our shadow isn't it because of an ultimately spiritual metaphyscial transference. Simply stated, death! Yet, another subject of inference. What a bummer. Imagine, a physical world exempt of the existence of any shadow, it's preposterously eerie. We'd not know of our present position, our equilateral boundaries, our purported dimensions, our determinate existence, our character. We journey life's corridors unsc athed and uncaring of its appearance, presence, aura or even the slightest concern of its existence. But shouldn't we? Through the eons we've questioned and researched every situational concept of life.

Isn't everyone's shadow not an "Eve", a soul mate to live with, understand and cherish?

Have we given it so little thought?

Yes, but shouldn't we?

I believe so.
