"Christianity" is not a church, it is a way of life (as seen by the early method of joining the Christians-living-as-they-live d).
In fact-according to Pope Benedict XVI-the Roman Catholic Church is the ONLY true Christian church ... any Protestant church having, by definition, broken ties with the Apostolic Succession. (Oh, Protestant churches can 'call themselves' "Christian" as they very-closely model the True Christian Church; but the succession was broken.)
But limiting the church to only one denomination is like limiting God to only one seat of power. (True, tracing the roots of all power finds Him as its one source; but the nature of power is to multiply and gain multiple points-of-focus.)
But the "churching" of Christianity has by-and-large cut off any advancements when they threatened to energize points-of-focus other than the highest seat (even if they "included" the highest seat). When scientific advancements were made that placed "promotion" outside of the circle ruled by the Church-Officials, then the scientists involved were accused of "heresy" or something-as it seemed they were 'taking the power of God away from the Church.'
That is another place the church breaks with Jesus' teachings: most-obviously the one about the mustard-seed. (In case you don't recall, He taught that the mighty cedars-though firm and supportive-could only grow if "given" room, whereas the mustard seed-though it began as a weedy-plant-grew into a more-useful tree with worthier fruit and a more-natural constructive stature.)
The mustard-seed philosophy is NOT the philosophy of the established church-as seen in the subliminal understanding that 'church' means "people-of-the-chapel." That is an understanding we need to abolish-the true focus of the church should be the daily life of the people within it, as they serve ALL PEOPLE WHO CAN TURN TO GOD'S KINGDOM!
