One Gentle Touch
Where does a love story truly begin?
Is it in the first glance, with a mischievous grin;
when hearts are still racing and knees grow so weak,
and stomachs are churning and confidence is meek?
Or is it when hours start to go by so fast,
when all you can think is "I hope this will last",
and thoughts in your head don't make any sense.
and feelings pass normal and shift to intense?
Maybe it starts when you realize how much,
you've come to rely on their love and their touch.
Their absence is felt when they leave for awhile,
And all you can feel is the warmth of their smile.
But what happens when it all falls apart,
when fate has been tempted in this test of the heart?
Is love only stronger when true courage shines through,
and you realize the value in all that you do?
I think pure love comes from having to bear
the faults and mistakes that you equally share.
When your love falls apart and is built back once more,
strength is regained...it's no longer a chore.
Love's always tempered by the harshness of life,
and sometimes it's hard being husband and wife,
But think back and remember the grin and the glance,
when your heart skipped a beat and your breathing would dance.
And then you will feel the extent of your love,
given only by God that reigns from above,
and relax in the arms that now mean so much,
content with the value of one gentle touch.
