It really depends on who you are talking to and talking about but since this is me, I say yes. There is no such thing as something for nothing and nothing is what it's cracked up to be. Marketing and advertising by their very nature appeal to people on an emotional level. Infatuation is the unbelievable at the beginning of a relationship, but as two people get to know each other they look at one and other differently. Age, intelligence, experience and maturity have a lot to do with it, but in reality whoever does not learn and grow as time goes on is destined to make the same mistakes over and over again. For most of us, I believe we are not influenced nearly as much by advertising and marketing as we were in days past. On one hand you can say that we filter out a lot more because we have been disappointed, but by and larger advertising and marketing have always been designed to elicit an emotional response.
I believe that we are as cynical toward traditional advertisements than in the past but now there are alternatives. We have the internet and search engines and ways to research and find what we want. When there were limited alternatives we just did not believe anything. Now we are more research oriented. What does jaded mean anyway? Does it mean we are angry or mad at the world? Or, does it mean we look for alternatives more easily. Advertising has never been honest but and large to more jaded, no, as jsded probably. The great thing is now one does not have to let it affect them, they can just get online, go to forums, read reviews and make an informed decision based on the facts and available opinions. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
