The best brand laptop to buy is hands the Mac PowerBook Pro 15 inch generically speaking. Or you could buy the low price brands and think you are getting a bargain because your upfront cost is low. If you a healthy purchasing decision, this Apple has your best health in mind.

There are a lot of brands out there. Many of them produce good machines. Some of them are inferior for various reasons. You can find machines for a variety of prices and what looks to be a really good deal. But there are some things you should beware of as a consumer.

First, what does it come with, trial software? If you are looking for Microsoft Office, prepare to shell out some more dollars. Unless of course you want to go for the free Open Office, which is written by a bunch of talented people as a free alternative to the Microsoft products.

What is the operating system? Search the web; it won't take long to find the pitfalls of Windows Vista. There is a reason Microsoft is making Windows XP available again. Vista was a nice attempt, but typical Microsoft. Vista even looks a lot more like Maces, go figure.

What are your processor speed, memory, hard drive capacity, and video card? A lot of the time these lower cost machines are just that, lower end. Compare what you are getting. Know what upgrade options are available.

How well built is it? Some companies use inferior plastics and poor manufacturing processes to keep costs down. It may look nice today, but one drop, one scuff, one bump in your bag, and hello cracked monitor or case. If you have a lot of acid in your perspiration, you may find the letters on your keys will even disappear over time.

Now compare what you are receiving with the Mac Book Pro 15 inch monitor. You can get the 17 inch if you wish to lug it around. You can get the smaller machines if you prefer a white or black case instead of aluminum, or suppose you want a glossy screen.

The problem with the glossy screens is glare during daytime, but at night they look fabulous. So when are you going to use yours? Aluminum dents, plastic cracks, so make the choice. Larger screen, faster processors, more ram, more hard drive storage.

The reason it costs so much more is because you get more. What you get will last longer though because you can grow into what you are not using today. If you are a power user, the things you want are going to be on this machine already, so if you are looking at other brands you will be real close in price.
